Powder Puff 2009

Every year Brent coaches one of the teams for the Douglas High School Powder Puff Football Game. It is the Junior girls vs. Senior girls. It is like the Super Bowl in Douglas County. It was the first year they let them play the game on the turf field and both grand stands were packed. The coach stays with the class for both the Junior and Senior year. So, Brent had the Juniors this year and will have them next year again as seniors. They have 3 days of practice and then play the game on Friday night under the lights. Brent had almost 80 girls this year. Brent is very competitive and he says the hardest thing is making sure every girl gets playing time and still winning the game. My kids also love it because I take them to the practices and the game and they get to hang out of the field with the players. One of the other varsity coaches, and Brent's good friend, coaches the other team. Brent has won every year he has coached except for last year and he didn't want to lose again. The juniors were the underdog and everyone thought they were going to get stomped. Everyone thought that except for Brent and the juniors! It was an excellent game and came down to the final 20 seconds and the juniors were down by 2 points. Brent called a timeout and in the huddle said okay QB you pitch it to her and then you throw it to her. You catch her throw and then we win. The hook and ladder. They had never practiced it before. And it worked and they won! SOOOO exciting! After the game (right before this first picture) Brooke and Jessie did some tricks for the girls. Jessie did some roundoffs and carwheels and stuff and Brooke was going to do a roundoff and 2 backhandsprings but the adreniline must have been pumping because she did a roundoff backtuck. She was SOOOO pumped! She has been working on it for soooo long.
Class of 2010...CHAMPIONS!
Brent's #1 Fans
Brent always agrees to coach powder puff as long as his kids can hang out at the practices and his girls get shirts to match the team. Done.
Brent's reaction to a play. I tried to get some good pics of his coaching but I needed to be on the other sideline. Maybe during the regular season I'll get some.
Brent coaching. I absolutely LOVE my new camera Brent got me for Christmas (and Derek showing me how to actually use it). This picture is from the grandstands!
Kaylee Nicole's first DHS t-shirt. Thanks Becky Rudger (one of the Asst. Principals).
Brooke and Jessie watching from the sideline.
Brent loves winning...even if it was Powder Puff...it was still football!

Brookie's 8th Birthday

Wow! I can't believe we have an 8 year old! Brookie brings so much happiness and joy to our lives and our family. We love her so much!Donut and a bump on the egg with toast for breakfast in bed for the birthday girl.

Brooke opted to have a friend over for a sleepover and to go get a pedicure and pick out an outfit instead of a big birthday party with lots of friends. She invited Kari Coziahr from school. They had a great time and was so much easier on mom!Pedicure from the nail salon.
They went shopping to Target and got matching outfits.
They stayed up until 2 A.M.
Brookie's friends MaKenna and Savanna gave her beads for her door.

Kaylee Nicole's first swim

Kaylee Nicole had her first taste of swimming. Our family LOVES to go swimming and Kaylee Nicole fell right in line. One of our favorite places is David Walley's Hot Springs, Pool and Spa. She had such a great time. She was in the water with Brent the entire time we were there. The kids were so cute with her. They were so excited to have her there.

Kaylee Nicole looked so cute. Such a stylish little swimmer!
Wee! So high! Kaylee Nicole squeeled with delight! We LOVE summer time. Brent is the best daddy and always swims with the kids while I get a few minutes off to relax in the sun!
Brookie was a huge help with Kaylee Nicole.Braden loves Spideyman!

Team Exhibition

Brooke is working out with the gymnastics team for a month or so and they invited her to do an exhibition with them. Brookie was soooo excited because the little routine the level 4's did was to Miley Cyrus's new song "Hoedown Throwdown" from the Hannah Montana movie. Brookie LOVES performing, especially in front of a whole elementary school cheering really loud! She learned the routine in just a couple of days! She amazes me! (I'm still using my old video camera that records onto an SD card and didn't have enough free memory to record the whole thing...sorry.)

Brookie...Salute!Kaylee Nicole enjoyed watching. It was such a beautiful day in the sun.Braden helping mommy take care of Kaylee Nicole while I videoed. Level 4 team girls...Salute!

Tired girl

Kaylee Nicole discovered her reflection in the oven while she was in her walker. She just loved it. She played there for almost an hour while I was cleaning. Next thing I know she was sound asleep. I love her so much!

Children's Museum

Jessie's class took a field trip to the Children's Museum and I went and took Braden and Kaylee Nicole. It was a fun morning and kept the kids really entertained.

The walking piano.
Jessie on the climbing wall.
And Braden had a turn too.
Jessie in the "store". She was the "checker our lady". I think it was her favorite of the day. I can remember unloading the groceries for my mom and pretending to be the "checker out lady". Funny though, Jessie would slide the item over the counter and say "beep" and I used to get a calculator and pretend I was punching in a bunch of numbers. Changing times.
Jessie loves it when I bring Braden and Kaylee Nicole to her class. She is a very proud big sister.
The jet.
Jessie being a scientist.
Braden's favorite was the Thomas the Train setup. He spent most of his time there.
In jail!!!

Run, April, Run

My friend, Shelly Plaut, and I decided to run in the Rock N River Reno Run 10K marathon. We trained for a couple of months and did an awesome job, I was so proud of us! Shelly took 7 minutes off her fastest time and finished in 50 minutes. She finished in 8th place in our age bracket out of 88 runners. Everyone in my family got sick the week before the race, including me. I never did get the throwing up part. I just had a high fever and a horrible headache. We had to be at the race in Reno at 6:30 in the morning. When we left our house that morning my temperature was 101.9. Brent was sure I was going to get pneumonia but I was NOT going to miss this race after all the work getting ready for it. (Running is NOT my favorite thing to do!) My fastest time had been 1 hour and 14 minutes and i ended up finishing in 1 hour and 1 minute...32nd place. (That was 13 minutes faster than my fastest time and I beat 56 people in my age group.) I was pretty proud of myself. And although I thought my chest was going to collapse and my head was going to explode I didn't catch pneumonia!
This is where the race started. It was cold and raining! We have our ipods and we are ready to run! Yeah! We did it!! (There are no pictures of us crossing the finish line...everyone who came to watch was in the casino...eating breakfast!!)
